Human trafficking organizations frequently post job advertisements for customer service representatives, salesmen, and other positions overseas on social media or through instant messaging, tempting applicants with attractive salary packages, zero experience requirement, and online dating services.
As soon as they step off the plane, victims have their passports seized. Not only are they threatened to undertake fraud, but they are also beaten, abused, illegally detained, sexually assaulted, and even treated as commodities for trade that are either resold to additional fraudulent businesses at inflated prices or sold to Thailand for organ harvesting.
